Thoughts on the Philippine Divorce Bill

The Divorce Bill being worked on by the Philippine congress has created a lot of buzz and attention from the public. And I think that it has achieved its purpose in setting aside and delaying the more important matters at hand from being tackled by the Philippine congress such as corruption and other legal matters.

“But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.” - Matthew 5:32

“Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” - Mark 10:9

“I hate divorce,” says the LORD God of Israel, “and I hate a man’s covering himself with violence as well as with his garment,” says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.” - Malachi 2:16

“But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.” - Matthew 5:32

“Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.” - Matthew 19:8

The congress has better bills and laws to pass than this. We have such a huge problem and we’re focusing on such unnecessary, un-urgent, un0important matters such as the divorce bill. I don’t usually blog about recent happenings in our country but I think that I should since God placed me here in the Philippines for a reason.

Divorce is sin. It is never an option.

  1. John Orford says:

Divorce is sin? The Philippines is the only country in the world with no divorce law, now that Malta has finally agreed to allow it. So we are right and all the others are wrong?

  2. Your writings are biblically correct, however, if one was look a little closer one could find suggestive changes in the hebrew to greek writings. Divorce is not a sin, please check out my dissertation at Oral Roberts University.

It is time to free people from the guilt and condemnation of divorce. The Lord did not intend anyone stay in a marriage that is destructive to them physically or mentally, male or female. Paul said in 1 Corth. 7;12-15

    Paul said.
“But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases; but God has called us to peace.”
